This is one of the company's first initiatives after Kwon was appointed to his position last month. LGES said the CEO will answer questions or respond to complaints through the channel, known as "EnTalk." The channel is also accepting work-related ideas.
"The first step to understanding clients is to communicate and sympathize with employees," Kwon was quoted as saying in a company press release, Tuesday.
EnTalk was set up following the CEO's recent meeting with employees belonging to the MZ generation, referring to those born between 1981 and the early 2010s, who proposed setting up a direct communication channel with the CEO. LGES has a young workforce, with the MZ generation comprising more than 80 percent of the total workforce.
LGES said various proposals and questions were received on Monday, the first day the channel was launched. They included proposals to improve the HR system here and at the Chinese subsidiary. One question asked about Kwon's MBTI personality type, the company said.
The LG affiliate said proposals and questions are accepted in multiple languages, given the battery maker's worldwide presence. LGES has subsidiaries in China, the U.S. and Poland.
The battery firm said the latest channel was introduced as part of efforts to make its organizational culture more horizontal and flexible by enhancing communication. LG has a traditionally conservative culture that places importance on meetings and reporting to superiors.
The company plans on implementing other proposals made by MZ generation employees, such as improving maternity and childcare leave systems and making working hours more flexible.
Kwon, previously an LG vice chairman, was appointed CEO of LGES on Oct. 25. The appointment is seen as LG's increased focus on its battery business. Several key tasks for LGES include its stock market debut next year and preventing further battery fires.
