Tmap Mobility revamped its navigation app, Tmap, to offer a wider array of services ranging from searching for public transportation routes to booking restaurants and hotels in order to offer enhanced customer experience, its CEO said Monday.
"Today, we're releasing version 10.0 of Tmap and embarking on a new journey. We offer an all-new personalized and integrated Tmap service powered by AI technology," Lee Jong-ho, CEO of the company, said during a press conference in Seoul.
The CEO said the revamped Tmap focuses on offering integrated and personalized services.
"We've integrated public transportation services that used to be separate, allowing users to compare different types of transportation. If you are traveling to Incheon International Airport, you can easily book an airport bus on Tmap," he said.
Tmap Mobility is also expanding its services to what it calls mobility life area, which includes searching for places and making restaurant and accommodation reservations.
"You can also rent a car and make restaurant and hotel reservations using Tmap. All of these changes are made possible by Tmap's unrivaled data competitiveness and AI technology," the CEO said.
Jung Min-gyoo, chief technical officer at Tmap Mobility, said, "Tmap's data is a unique asset for integration and personalization." Jung added that the company will offer enhanced services based on its data to further solidify its position as the most popular navigation app in Korea.
"We will use data and AI to deliver personalized and contextualized user experiences across all areas of mobility," the CTO said.
He also said Tmap uses AI to learn data such as user information, activities and driving habits to offer personalized services by matching interests and situations. The company will also utilize large-language models to provide more customized venue recommendations and traffic predictions.
The company is also strengthening its collaboration with automakers such as Mercedes-Benz. Magnus Ostberg, chief software officer of Mercedes-Benz, emphasized close collaboration in a video message.
