Samsung Electronics is seeking to provide a connected experience for customers with its "SmartThings" platform, by connecting key electronic devices such as TVs and other home appliances, as well as smartphones.
The tech giant is presenting a refrigerator incorporated with "SmartThings Cooking," a system that recommends recipes based on ingredients in the fridge and user preference. Another feature is its "SmartThings Energy" system, which offers energy-saving plans by analyzing the energy consumption data of the past two months.
Samsung's signature Bespoke appliance series has been upgraded this year. The Bespoke refrigerator has strengthened AI capabilities, and enables users to watch TV via a screen on the fridge. The appliance has incorporated Amazon's virtual assistant Alexa, which provides notifications such as when to switch water purifier filters.
Users are able to control various appliances connected on the SmartThings platform with Samsung's "Home Hub" tablet, which won the CES Innovation award.

In addition, Samsung will feature its "AI Avatar" and "Samsung Bot" that assist in making a personalized and intelligent future home.
The AI Avatar is able to identify the user's location, to connect the user with the closest smart device in their home. It is basically an assistant that is able to respond to voice commands and control IoT-based appliances.
Samsung will also introduce two robots ― "Samsung Bot i" which is able to prepare video conferences, and "Samsung Bot Handy" which can set the table for dinner, among other tasks. Samsung Bot i is set to debut at this year's CES. It is able to move along with the user, who can control it remotely.
The connected experience also extends to the car. This is possible by connecting a camera inside the car with a Galaxy smartphone or Galaxy watch, to be able to track whether the driver is experiencing stress or is feeling drowsy or restless, and adjust light and other settings within the vehicle accordingly.
Samsung Vice Chairman Han Jong-hee will deliver a keynote speech on connected experience technology and sustainability at CES, Tuesday at 6:30 p.m., local time. Han is the head of the new division that has merged Samsung's consumer electronics and smartphone businesses.
