Samsung, SK, Hyundai Motor, LG and other major conglomerates here are displaying their innovative eco-friendly technologies aiming to make a more sustainable future at the World Climate Industry Expo (WCE) currently being held at Busan's BEXCO convention center, the companies said Thursday.
At the WCE, participants showcase the latest technologies and policies of the global climate industry. The event is also expected to offer a promotional opportunity to let more people around the world know about Busan's bid to host World Expo 2030 as the city aims to hold a carbon neutrality-themed international event.

During the WCE, which will run until Saturday, Samsung Electronics and Samsung SDI are operating a pavilion under the theme of Sustainable Daily Life.
Samsung showcased its efforts to go carbon neutral, including materials such as bioplastics and recycled marine waste materials for its home appliances and mobile devices. Samsung's chip business unveiled detailed goals in four eco-friendly areas ― carbon reduction, water utilization, waste recycling and pollutant reduction ― while Samsung SDI introduced a case of planting 100 million trees, replacing fossil fuels through automotive batteries and renewable energy storage systems (ESS).

SK Group's booth, jointly organized by six of its affiliates including SK Innovation, introduces group-wide eco-friendly strategies. SK Innovation exhibited electric vehicle batteries and eco-friendly technologies, including recycling technology that extracts key minerals such as lithium and nickel from used batteries.
Hyundai Motor Group set up the largest booth among the exhibitors in the Future Mobility Pavilion, promoting future mobility and hydrogen fuel cell technologies for carbon neutrality such as Kia's flagship electric SUV EV9, hydrogen electric sprinkler truck, hydrogen fuel cell drone, hydrogen fuel cell-based delivery vehicle M.Vision 2GO and hydrogen-based carbon neutral steelmaking processes.

Under the theme of Net Zero House, LG Electronics exhibited high-efficiency home appliances with low energy consumption and ones made with recycled plastics. It also displayed the TROMM washing machine, which can be upgraded to reduce the formation of microplastics when washing clothes by up to 70 percent compared to standard washing.
