LS Group Chairman Koo Ja-eun called on its employees to become futurists to be able to effectively introduce changes in new businesses and digital transformation during the conglomerate's first LS Future Day event held at LS Tower in Anyang Gyeonggi Province, Monday.
The purpose of the event was to share ideas for future businesses and discuss ways to enhance R&D and digital transformation.
The event was attended by around 200 executives and employees, including Koo, CEOs, chief technology officers (CTOs), and chief digital officers (CDOs) of each affiliate.
This year, 20 projects were selected and shared across the company in the three areas of new business, technology, and innovation. Leading employees are given the opportunity to visit the Consumer Electronics Show 2023 (CES 2023), the world's largest international electronics fair, scheduled to be held in Las Vegas in January, where they can experience the latest technology trends.
"In the creativity you have shown today, I have seen the futurists who will change the future of LS," Koo said. "People who constantly pursue their dreams will eventually create a new future," he added.
In the new business field, six projects, including LS Cable & System's recycling of waste cables and LS Electric's EV chargers for apartments, were selected as creative ideas to lead the group's future growth.
In the technology sector, the tasks of nine companies, including LS Cable & System's ultra-fast charging cable for EVs and LS Electric's low-voltage switchgear for America, were selected as R&D cases that created a differentiated competitive advantage.
In the area of innovation, the tasks of five companies, such as LS Electric's smart factory and LS-Nikko Copper Smelting's automatic control of oxygen per ton, were selected as examples of innovation that strengthened the competitiveness of existing businesses.
LS Group plans to hold LS Future Day as a regular annual event every September.
