Hyundai Motor Group has been awarded the 2022 Automotive News "PACE Award" in the U.S., recognized for its successful development and mass production of a central communication unit (CCU), according to the company, Wednesday.
This year marks the first time Korea's leading carmaker has received the PACE Award.
The PACE Award, hosted by Automotive News, an American automobile media outlet, selects various innovative cases from the automobile industry each year in three categories: the PACE Innovation Partnership Award, the PACE Award for outstanding collaboration between automakers and suppliers and PACE pilot innovation
A CCU is an integrated wired and wireless communication controller for internal/external linkage and data transfer. It provides advanced driving experiences including wireless software updates, connected car service, vehicle data collection and remote diagnosis.
This award is meaningful in that Hyundai Motor Group has been recognized for its competitiveness in the development of software-defined vehicles (SDV)).
"We will further accelerate the development of SDV-related technologies so that customers can have a safer and more convenient mobile experience," a Hyundai Motor Group official said.
