Samsung to display 5G solutions, new Galaxy gadgets

SK Telecom and KT will put their capabilities in artificial intelligence (AI) technology on show at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) telecommunications tech show, which will kick off its four-day run in Barcelona, Spain, according to the Korean mobile carriers, Sunday.
This year's MWC, one of the largest tech shows in the world along with the CES and the IFA, is gaining attention as it is expected to mainly deal with AI technology, whose presence is permeating our daily lives after the emergence of conversational AI service ChatGPT.
In response to this trend, not only Korean companies like SK Telecom and KT and big tech company Microsoft, but startup companies will also present their latest AI technologies and services.
SK Telecom said its booth centers on AI to showcase a total of 10 AI technologies and services such as hyperscale AI model A. (pronounced "A dot"); AI chip Sapeon; Vision AI that is applied to robotics, security, media and health care; LITMUS AI service for smart cities and transportation; and Excalibur, a veterinary AI service that helps diagnose X-rays on animals.
"In particular, SK Telecom will focus on demonstrating its A. service that features long-term memory technology that remembers and utilizes old information for multi-modal technology that can understand complex information such as photos and voice," SK Telecom said.
The mobile carrier will also provide a virtual reality simulation of urban air mobility service using an actual-size aircraft from its partner company Joby Aviation. Visitors who will try out the simulator can experience a flight between Seoul and Busan.

KT will also showcase its AI capability at the MWC. The company will display its full range of AI-related services, including hyperscale AI service MI:DEUM. KT recently unveiled its vision of commercializing MI:DEUM-based AI services such as AI contact center; logistics AI platform and AI assistant platform.
The company's mobility technology also can be seen at its booth. They are LIS'FO, which provides real-time optimized transportation routes using AI technology; LIS'CO, a solution that increases the efficiency of logistics center operations with AI; and Brokarry, a service that matches shippers and car owners in real-time.
"At KT's exhibition hall at the MWC, visitors can experience various digital transformation technologies, such as AI, semiconductors, robots and next-generation network solutions," Yang Yul-mo, head of KT's PR office, said.

Samsung Electronics also joins the MWC to promote its latest Galaxy gadgets, such as the Galaxy S23 smartphones and the Galaxy Book3 laptops and 5G network solutions.
When entering the company's booth, visitors will be able to take a close look at the Galaxy S23 smartphones on display so that they can experience its enhanced camera and other features, the company said.
Together with its partners such as Samsung Display, Google and Qualcomm, the company will display mobile displays, its Android operating system and mobile applications at its booth.
