LAS VEGAS ― LG Electronics will unveil its new OLED evo TVs that show brighter and clearer picture quality with an upgraded user experience at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas starting Thursday to expand its presence in the premium TV market, the company said Tuesday.
This year marks the 10th anniversary since the company introduced its OLED TVs to the market in 2013. Its latest version has an improved level of image quality and design, winning the company 12 Innovation Awards at CES 2023, including two top Innovation Awards.
LG said it has set a new vision for its OLED TV business, which is called "Sync to You, Open to All." With its new vision, the company will continue to focus on providing an improved customer experience.
"LG Electronics has been leading the innovation of customer experience as an OLED TV master," said Park Hyoung-sei, head of LG's Home Entertainment division. "Based on the superior quality and design of OLED TVs and our advanced TV platform, we will keep providing new values to customers."
The TV giant elaborated that the latest LG OLED evo has a brighter and clearer picture image thanks to its own image processing technology that finely adjusts brightness by subdividing each scene of a video and by offering more precise light control technology.
For instance, the 65-inch of the OLED evo is up to 70 percent brighter than other OLED TVs with the same screen size. Also, light reflection and screen glare are reduced compared to existing products.
The LG OLED evo received Quick Media Switching VRR certification, the latest standard of HDMI 2.1a specification, for the first time in the industry. This technology minimizes screen disruption so that the screen is displayed smoothly without a black screen (when changing channels) or interruptions. The TV also features the sixth-generation artificial intelligence (AI)-based Alpha 9 processor for better picture and sound quality.
Enhanced accessibility from ESG perspective
LG also emphasized that it has been working on strengthening product accessibility by operating a customer advisory panel for the disabled since 2021 under the company's environment, social and corporate governance (ESG) goal of "Better Life for All."
LG's TVs which will be released this year use a voice function to not only explain TV menus and screens that are displayed, but also provide search results. Also, the products feature a remote control learning function that explains each function of the controller when the button is pressed, which is good for both the visually impaired and the elderly.
Environment-wise, the company has reduced the amount of plastic needed for producing TVs and has increased the use of packaging materials that do not use color ink or recycled plastics. The company also uses biomaterials that decompose when buried for its remote control packaging.
