Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft, said Tuesday that every organization is able to achieve more while working less with its cloud computing service, and that the digital tool will be more powerful at this time when the world is undergoing historic economic, social and technological changes.
"Our mission of this company is empowering every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. And to achieve more in today's world even takes a much more acute need. This is about doing more with less," Nadella said during Microsoft's Ignite Spotlight on Korea event held at a hotel in Seoul.
"I want to speak to you today about how we're approaching driving that next level of entrepreneurial energy ― genuine productivity efficiency ― around the world. That's what is motivating us to build Microsoft Cloud, with all of its best-in-class solutions, as well as products to drive this initiative around doing more with less," he added.
It was Nadella's first visit to Korea in four years. He said he visited Korea to experience how innovation and digital technology are supporting the country's ecosystem of developers, startups and companies across various industries.
"In a world of increasing headwinds, digital technology is the ultimate tailwind," he said. "It's fantastic to see firsthand the innovation taking place in Korea and how organizations across the region are applying the power of the Microsoft Cloud to do more with less."
Nadella highlighted innovative cases of Korean companies through digital transformation. Prior to the conference, he said he met with a developer from Doosan Enerbility who used Microsoft Power Apps to develop the Search Stock app. This app allows users to monitor inventory in real time and to order needed material via mobile, with the ability to scale up to 200 users.
On the sidelines of the event, Nadella also had a series of meetings with Korean business tycoons such as Kim Taek-jin, CEO and founder of NCSOFT, and Park Jung-ho, CEO of SK Square and vice chairman of SK hynix.
An NCSOFT spokeswoman confirmed that its CEO had met with Nadella but added, "It is not possible to confirm what kind of conversation occurred between the two."
The industry view is that the NCSOFT chief talked about the game company's expansion into the global market.
NCSOFT is currently developing a new game called, "Throne and Liberty," scheduled to be released next year. "Throne and Liberty" is an online role-playing game that can be played on various platforms, such as Microsoft's Xbox Series X and S, the PlayStation 5 and PCs.
The Korean game company is known to have chosen an overseas publisher for "Throne and Liberty." As Microsoft has an Xbox console platform and is in charge of game distribution, speculations are that the two CEOs discussed cooperation to distribute NCSOFT's new game to the global market.
