Former defense minister dead at 83
Lee Yang-ho, who served as minister of national defense during the Kim Young-sam administration, died of natural causes on May 28. He was 83. Born in North Chungcheong Province in 1937, he joined the Air Force Academy in 1960 and served in key Air Force posts. He is known for being named as the Air Force’s first head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff in May 1993.
