South Korea finished the opening heats of the men's four-man bobsleigh in second place at the PyeongChang Winter Olympics, Saturday.
The result raised hopes for Korea's first medal in bobsleigh after it came in sixth in the two-man bobsleigh earlier this week.
The team of Won Yun-jong, Seo Young-woo, Jun Jung-lin and Kim Dong-hyun posted a combined time of 1 minute, 37.84 seconds in the first two of their four runs at the Olympic Sliding Center.
The team was 0.29 seconds behind the Germans led by Francesco Friedrich.
Won, the pilot, and the other members of the team said they will try to remain calm before their race on Sunday."
We still have two more heats to go. We'll need to concentrate better and do our best," Won said, adding that he was not fully satisfied with Saturday's performance.
He said he is trying "not to think about the other team too much" when asked whether his team is concerned about Germany's performance.Won and Seo also competed in the two-man bobsleigh.
