Though the bag contained some cash, camera lenses and other personal items, of upmost importance were our Malaysian passports. The moment we realized while in the taxi to Nami Island that we left the bag on the train my children panicked but not me, as I was told by my fellow Malaysian student who studies here that Korea is a safe place and the citizens here are highly civic minded.
We went to the Korail office and showed them our tickets and explained in English our case to a member of the staff. The staff member diligently contacted his fellow staff members and came back and told us that we would get the bag back in one hour. We were seated at the office meeting table and in 45 minutes the staff member came back to us with the bag and upon checking, we found that our four passports were there and all our other personal items were intact.
In addition to our personal thankfulness to the Korail staff, we would like to record in the media our sincere heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to the Korail staff for the help and efficiency in recovering our passports. Also going further, we would like to salute your people, your system and your government for making Korea a safe country, with disciplined citizens, not to mention your cleanliness. We enjoyed our visit to beautiful Seoul though we were not used to -21 degrees Celsius. Terima Kasih to Korail staff!
