'Gangnam Style' star PSY meets BTS' Suga in new release 'That That'

Two K-pop superstars ― PSY and BTS' Suga ― have joined hands to take the music scene by storm.
K팝 슈퍼스타 싸이와 그룹 방탄소년단의 슈가가 손을 잡아 가요계에 돌풍을 일으켰다.

PSY, who was propelled to global stardom with his 2012 hit "Gangnam Style," has collaborated with the BTS rapper to drop "That That," the lead single of his ninth full-length album, "PSY 9th." The album came out Friday afternoon, about five years after the release of his eighth studio album, "4X2=8," in 2017.
2012년 ‘강남스타일'로 세계적 스타덤에 오른 싸이는 정규 9집 ‘싸다9(싸이의 다채로운 9집)'의 타이틀곡 ‘댓 댓'에서 그룹 방탄소년단 래퍼와 협업을 진행했다. 이 앨범은 지난 금요일 오후 2017년 싸이의 8집 ‘4x2=8'가 발매되고 약 5년이 지난 후 공개되었다.

"Suga got hold of me last autumn, saying he produced a song that fitted me well," PSY said during a press conference at Fairmont Ambassador Seoul, Friday. "I fell in love with the track as soon as I heard it. Back then, I was looking for a Latin-infused song like 'That That' instead of an EDM-based dance track, so that I could showcase something new to people."
싸이는 지난 29일 페어몬트 앰배서더 서울에서 열린 기자회견에서 "지난해 가을 슈가가 내게 너무 어울리는 노래를 만들었다며 프로듀싱하고 싶다고 했다"고 말했다. "마침 EDM 기반 댄스는 그만하고 라틴 계열 댄스를 하면 좋겠다고 생각하고 있었는데 딱 맞는 반주를 가져 왔다."

Suga not only produced "That That," but is also featured in the track and appears in its music video.
슈가는 ‘댓 댓' 프로듀싱뿐만 아니라 곡 피처링에 참여하고 뮤직비디오에도 출연한다.

"Suga dedicated so much time and effort to bring 'That That' to life," PSY revealed. "When we were shooting a music video in Incheon in March, it was very cold and windy, but he still strived to film the best scenes. Thanks to this collaboration, I could walk down memory lane as well. Seeing how passionate he was and how much he loved music, I naturally recalled my bygone days and pushed myself to work hard like I did in the past."
싸이는 "슈가가 ‘댓 댓'에 활기를 불어넣기 위해 시간과 노력을 많이 투자했다"고 밝혔다. "3월 인천에서 뮤직비디오 촬영할 때 춥고 바람이 거셌는데도 슈가는 최고의 장면을 뽑아내기 위해 애썼다. 이 공동 작업 덕분에 나 역시 추억을 회상할 수 있었다. 슈가가 애정과 열정을 가지고 음악하는 것을 보고 나도 자연스럽게 과거를 회상하며 예전처럼 더 열심히 하게 되었다."

Suga is not the only big-name star who has teamed up with PSY this time. MAMAMOO's Hwasa, rapper Jessi and soloist Crush are also featured on the singer's new album, which offers 12 tunes of various genres.
슈가는 이번 앨범에서 싸이와 함께 작업한 유일한 유명 스타가 아니다. 마마무의 화사, 래퍼 제시, 그리고 솔로 아티스트 크러쉬 역시 다양한 장르의 12곡이 담긴 싸이의 새 앨범에 피처링했다.
