Domestic commercial banks have begun to provide the 391 Afghan evacuees in Korea with a wide range of support, so that they can adapt to the unfamiliar environment by having better access to banking, educational, mobile communication and medical services.
국내 시중 은행들이 한국에 거주하는 아프간 특별기여자 391명에게 은행업무, 교육, 모바일 소통 및 의료 서비스에 보다 쉽게 접근함으로써 익숙하지 않은 환경에 적응할 수 있도록 광범위한 지원을 제공하기 시작했다.
Woori Bank said that it will set up a movable branch until Friday at the National Human Resources Development Institute in Jincheon, North Chungcheong Province, which has been used as a temporary shelter for the evacuees.
우리은행은 금요일까지 특별기여자들의 임시 생활 시설로 사용되는 충청북도 진천군 국가공무원인재개발원에 이동 점포를 설치할 예정이라고 밝혔다.
The branch will enable them to open bank accounts, use online banking and designate the banks they will use to exchange foreign currency.
이 점포를 통해 특별기여자들은 통장 및 온라인 뱅킹 개설, 거래외국환은행지정 등의 금융 서비스 이용이 가능하게 된다.
The bank will also teach them about Korea's financial system.
우리은행은 또 한국의 금융 시스템을 교육할 예정이다.
Among the evacuees, 230 minors will receive textbooks and stationery needed for learning hangeul.
아프간 특별기여자 가운데 미성년자 230여명은 한글 교육에 필요한 교과서와 각종 문구류를 전달 받을 예정이다.
"Through this project, we will help the Afghan evacuees adapt to Korean society earlier," a Woori Bank official said.
우리은행 관계자는 "아프간 특별기여자 지원사업을 통해 한국 사회에 일찍 적응하는 것을 도울 것"이라고 전했다.
KB Kookmin Bank has joined hands with the Korean Red Cross to cover the medical expenses of the evacuees, so that they can continue to live stable lives, even after they move out of the temporary shelter.
KB국민은행은 대한적십자사와 협력해 특별기여자들이 임시 생활 시설에서 퇴소한 이후에도 안정적인 삶을 지속할 수 있도록 특별기여자의 의료 비용을 지원하기로 했다.
In addition, it will help the Afghan minors learn hangeul and math, using tablet computers.
국민은행은 또 아프가니스탄 미성년자들이 태블릿 컴퓨터를 이용해 한글과 수학을 배우는 것을 도울 예정이다.
"We made this decision to help the Afghan evacuees to regain their mental health and adapt to the new environment earlier," a KB Kookmin Bank official said.
국민은행 관계자는 "아프가니스탄 특별기여자들이 정신 건강을 되찾고 새로운 환경에 일찍 적응하는 것을 돕고자 이런 결정을 내렸다"고 밝혔다.
The Afghan evacuees arrived in Korea with their families in August, based on their contributions to the Korean government's activities there.
지난 8월 아프가니스탄 특별기여자들은 아프간에서 한국 정부 활동에 협력한 공로를 바탕으로 가족과 함께 한국에 도착했다.
The government has decided to allow them to live and work here for at least five years.
정부는 최소 5년간 이들이 국내에서 거주하고 일하는 것을 허용하기로 했다.
