Facilities' hidden spots add depth to memorable scenes
지하철의 숨겨진 장소들, 각 장면 더 인상 깊게 만들어

Directors, actors and production crews are using a wider range of locations for their television and film shoots. As the industry emerges from the pandemic, the health risks associated with filming are lessening. Now, the most popular locations for filming, according to the city government of Seoul, are the city's subway stations.
감독, 배우 및 제작진은 영화 및 드라마 촬영을 위해 더 넓은 범위의 장소를 활용하고 있다. 업계가 대유행에서 벗어나면서 촬영과 관련된 건강 위험이 줄어들고 있다. 서울시에 따르면 현재 가장 인기 있는 영화 촬영지는 지하철 역이다.
Watch recent TV drama hits like the court comedy "Extraordinary Attorney Woo" on ENA or the fantasy "Reborn Rich" on JTBC and you will notice the different settings in some of the scenes.
법정 코미디 ENA 드라마 '이상한 변호사 우영우'나 JTBC 판타지 드라마 '재벌집 막내아들'과 같은 최근 인기 드라마를 보면 일부 장면에서 장소가 달라지는 걸 눈치챌 수 있다.
Statistics from last year show the changing trend, in comparison to previous years when the country was more deeply concerned about the ongoing pandemic. The Seoul Metropolitan Government said on Saturday that their popularity will likely keep growing as quarantine measures are becoming less stringent. The country on Jan. 30 repealed almost all remaining indoor mask-wearing rules that had been in force since the pandemic's onset in 2020.
작년 통계는 팬데믹의 영향을 크게 받던 지난 몇 년과 비교해 변화하는 추세를 보여준다. 서울시는 토요일 방역 조치의 완화에 따라 지하철의 인기가 계속 높아질 것이라고 말했다. 지난 1월 30일 정부는 2020년 팬데믹이 시작된 후 시행된 거의 모든 실내 마스크 착용 규칙을 폐지했다.
Seoul Metro, the city government's subway operator which oversees 344 stations on nine subway lines, said it approved 216 shoots in 2022 for TV dramas and movies at subway stations. The figure is up significantly from 2021 and 2020, when such shoots took place 86 and 66 times, respectively.
지하철 9개의 노선에서 344개 역을 관리하는 서울교통공사는 2022년까지 지하철에서 영화 및 드라마 촬영 216건을 승인했다고 밝혔다. 2021년과 2020년에 각각 86건, 66건이었던 것 대비 크게 늘어난 수치다.
"The figures show that shoots took place last year at least once every two days at one of our stations," an official from the company said.
한 서울교통공사 관계자는 "지난해 최소 이틀에 한 번씩 촬영이 이뤄진 것으로 집계됐다"고 전했다.
The trend becomes more apparent when it includes non-paid shoots by students for school projects and government offices for public campaigns. Whereas such shoots took place 58 and 66 times in 2020 and 2021, respectively, the number rose to 120 times in 2022.
이러한 추세는 학생들이 진행하는 학교 프로젝트나 공공기관의 공익광고 등의 무상촬영을 포함할 때 더욱 분명히 드러난다. 촬영 횟수가 2020년에는 58건, 2021년에는 66건이었는데 2022년에는 120건으로 늘어났다.

Not all subway stations satisfy location scouts. There are only so many settings unique enough to satisfy directorial cues and the presence of actors.
모든 지하철역이 장소 섭외자들을 만족시키는 것은 아니다. 감독의 지시와 배우들의 존재를 만족시키기에 충분한 환경은 한정되어 있다.
