South Korean coach Park Hang-seo has signed a lucrative extension with the Vietnamese men's national football team.
'쌀딩크' 박항서 감독이 베트남 축구 대표팀과 더 높은 연봉으로 재계약을 맺었다.
Park signed his new contract at a press conference with the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) here on Thursday. He'll continue to coach both the men's senior and under-23 national teams. The new contract will have two guaranteed years with an option for a third year.
박 감독은 지난 목요일 베트남축구협회(VFF)와의 기자회견에서 재계약을 체결했다. 그는 지금과 같이 베트남 성인 축구대표팀(A대표팀)과 올림픽대표팀(U-23)을 지도할 예정이다. 새 계약은 기본 2년에 옵션 1년을 포함한 3년으로 알려졌다.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Park has been making $240,000 per year on his current deal, which was to expire in January next year. Park's new deal is reportedly the largest ever for a coach for the Vietnamese national team.
재계약의 자세한 연봉 조건은 공개되지 않았다. 박 감독은 내년 1월 만료 예정인 기존 계약으로 연봉 24만 달러를 받고 있다. 박 감독의 이번 재계약은 베트남 대표팀 감독으로서는 역대 최대 액수라고 알려졌다.
Local media also reported that the VFF has signed a new corporate sponsorship deal with a major company in the country to help pay for Park's salary.
현지 언론들도 베트남축구협회가 박 감독의 급여 지급을 돕기 위해 베트남 내 주요 기업과 새로운 후원 계약을 체결했다고 보도했다.
Park, 60, has worked magic with both the senior men's and the under-23 men's teams in Vietnam since taking over in October 2017. Park's highlights include a runner-up finish at the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U-23 Championship in January 2018 and a run to the semifinals at the 2018 Asian Games.
박 감독(60)은 지난 2017년 10월 베트남 축구대표팀 감독에 부임한 이후 아시아축구연맹(AFC) U-23 챔피언십 준우승, 아시안게임 4강 신화 등을 달성하며 박항서 매직을 써내렸다.
Vietnam also won the 2018 Suzuki Cup title over Malaysia last December for their first regional championship in 10 years.
박항서 감독이 이끄는 베트남은 지난해 12월 말레이시아와의 2018 스즈키컵에서 10년 만의 우승을 차지하기도 했다.
And at the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Asian Cup in January this year, Vietnam reached the quarterfinals for the first time in a dozen years.
그리고 올해 1월 아시아축구연맹(AFC) 아시안컵에서 베트남은 12년 만에 8강에 올랐다.
Vietnam are competing in the second round of the Asian qualification for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. They're in second place in Group G behind Thailand with seven points. The eight group winners and the four-best runners-up will reach the third round. Vietnam have never played at the World Cup. (Yonhap)
베트남 축구대표팀은 2022 FIFA 월드컵 아시아 지역 2차 예선에 출전하고 있다. 베트남은 현재 승점 7점으로 태국에 이어 G조 2위에 있다. 8개 조 1위 팀과 2위 팀들 중 상위 4개팀이 3차 예선에 진출한다. 베트남은 지금까지 월드컵에 한번도 출전하지 못했다.
