A new year is right around the corner and a legion of K-pop acts are gearing up to mark a fresh start with their new music offerings. Included in the star-studded lineup are girl group NewJeans and boy bands Monsta X and SF9.
2023년이 임박한 지금 다수의 K팝 가수들이 컴백을 알리며 새해 활기찬 시작을 준비하고 있다. 유명 K팝스타들로 구성된 이번 라인업에는 걸그룹 뉴진스와 보이그룹 몬스타엑스, SF9가 포함되어 있다.

NewJeans, one of the most attention-grabbing K-pop acts at the moment, is scheduled to put out a new EP, "OMG," Jan. 2.
현재 가장 눈길을 끄는 K팝 가수 중 한 그룹인 뉴진스는 1월 2일 싱글 앨범 ‘OMG'을 출시한다.
On Dec. 19, it unveiled "Ditto" ― one of the songs to be included on the upcoming EP ― which is currently reigning atop the real-time charts of Korea's major music streaming platforms such as Melon and Genie. Featuring the sound of Baltimore club, "Ditto" conquered the iTunes Top Song charts in seven countries including Thailand and Vietnam upon its release. Baltimore club is a genre originating in the 1990s that blends hip-hop and house.
지난 12월 19일 뉴진스는 1월 앨범 수록곡 중 하나인 ‘디토'(Ditto)를 선공개해 현재 멜론, 지니와 같은 한국의 주요 음악 스트리밍 플랫폼에서 실시간 차트 정상을 지키고 있다. 볼티모어 클럽 댄스 사운드를 특징으로 하는 ‘디토'는 공개 직후 태국과 베트남을 포함한 전 세계 7개국에서 아이튠즈 ‘톱 송' 차트 1위에 올랐다. 볼티모어 클럽은 힙합과 하우스를 섞은 1990년대에서 유래한 장르다.
The first part of the music video for "Ditto" has attracted more than 9.5 million hits on YouTube as of Thursday afternoon, and the second part, 6.2 million.
‘디토' 뮤직비디오 첫 파트는 목요일 오후 기준 유튜브에서 조회수 950만회, 두 번째 파트는 620만회를 기록했다.
More information about "OMG" has been kept under wraps, but the quintet's management company ADOR hinted that it will shed light on "NewJeans' winter." The EP will be fronted by the namesake lead single, in which member Hanni participated in penning the lyrics.
‘OMG'에 대한 더 많은 정보는 알려지지 않았지만 이 5인조의 소속사 아도르는 해당 곡이 "뉴진스의 겨울"을 조명할 것이라고 넌지시 알렸다. 새 앨범은 멤버 하니가 가사 작업에 참여한 동일명의 리드 싱글을 타이틀곡으로 한다.
NewJeans received a grand prize at the 2022 Asia Artist Awards (AAA) earlier this month, only about four months after debuting with its self-titled album in August. Its songs "Attention" and "Hype Boy" hit 100 million streams on Spotify, the world's largest music streaming platform, and "Cookie" was included on the "Best Songs of 2022" list released by The New York Times, Dec. 7.
뉴진스는 8월 그룹명을 딴 앨범으로 데뷔한 지 약 4개월만에 이번 달 2022 아시아 아티스트 어워즈에서 대상을 받았다. 뉴진스의 곡 ‘어텐션'과 ‘하입보이'는 세계 최대 규모 음악 스트리밍 플랫폼 스포티파이에서 재생 수 1억회를 기록했고, ‘쿠키'는 미국 뉴욕타임스가 12월 7일 공개한 ‘2022년의 최고의 노래' 가운데 하나로 뽑혔다.

Only one week after NewJeans' "OMG" comes out, boy group Monsta X will roll out its 12th mini-album, "REASON."
뉴진스의 ‘OMG' 발매 일주일 후면 보이그룹 몬스타엑스가 미니 12집 ‘리즌'(REASON)을 내놓는다.
According to Monsta X's record label Starship Entertainment, the EP will be led by "Beautiful Liar" and offer five other tunes including "Daydream," "Crescendo" and "Deny."
몬스타엑스 소속사 스타쉽엔터테인먼트는 이번 앨범이 타이틀곡 ‘뷰티풀 라이어'(Beautiful Liar)를 비롯해 ‘데이드림'(Daydream), ‘춤사위'(Crescendo)와 ‘Deny'와 등 5곡을 추가로 수록할 예정이라고 밝혔다.
Monsta X members, who have been actively taking part in the creative processes for their albums, again played crucial roles in producing their new release.
이번 앨범의 제작 과정에 적극적으로 참여한 몬스타엑스 멤버들은 신곡 제작에 핵심적인 역할을 했다.
"In the case of Joohoney, who was behind the success of Monsta X's lead singles like 'GAMBLER' (2021), he participated in producing two tracks included in this album: 'Crescendo' and 'It's Okay,'" Starship said in a statement. "I.M and Hyungwon have songwriting credits on the tunes 'Deny' and 'Lone Ranger,' respectively."
스타쉽 측은 "몬스타엑스의 타이틀곡 '갬블러'(2021) 등의 성공을 이끈 주헌의 경우 이번 앨범에 수록된 '춤사위'와 '괜찮아' 두 곡의 프로듀싱에 참여했다"며 "아이엠과 형원은 각각 'Deny'와 'Lone Ranger'의 작곡 크레딧에 이름을 올렸다"고 덧붙였다.
It has taken about nine months for Monsta X to make a comeback since it released "SHAPE of LOVE" in April.
몬스타엑스의 이번 컴백은 지난 4월 발매한 미니 앨범 ‘SHAPE of LOVE' 이후 9개월 만이다.
