Seoul City will have its own pavilion with the theme "smart city" at the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show (CES), the largest consumer electronics trade show in the U.S., the city government announced Tuesday.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government will showcase its smart city technology at Eureka Park, the startups arena of the Las Vegas convention, from Jan. 7 to 10.
Twenty-four tech startups in Seoul that fit the "Smart City & Smart Life" category will be chosen to participate, with the city paying much of their flight and exhibition costs.
Covering about 223 square meters, the pavilion will also feature Mayor Park Won-soon's special smart wall showing millions of data collected around the city, including real-time CCTV footage of key traffic points and the most up-to-date tabs on food prices at grocery stores.
The pavilion will be run in partnership with the Seoul Digital Foundation and Seoul Business Agency.
"Seoul is ranked a world-class smart city thanks to the technology and entrepreneurship of innovative startups based in the capital," Lee Won-mok, a city official heading smart city policies, said in a statement.
