The Embassy of Denmark in Korea hosts a series of healthcare seminars on health issues faced by both Denmark and Korea.

The first seminar was called "The Ageing Society: Healthy Ageing and Assisted Living" and was held at the Danish ambassador's residence in Seoul on June 14. The talk focused on dignified aging and took a look into the primary healthcare system and assistive technology in Denmark and Korea.

Danish Ambassador Einar Jensen emphasized the strong Danish-Korea partnership in the senior care sector.

"The solutions to these issues are not straightforward. Different approaches can lead to different results in terms of economic feasibility and quality of life. Therefore, it is essential to share our experiences and to collaborate on innovative solutions, so that we may secure the best dignified aging policies and tools for the senior citizens of Denmark and Korea," Jensen said.

Both Korea and Denmark face the demographic challenge of an aging society and research shows that more than 25 percent of both countries' population will be above the age of 65 in less than 20 years.

The seminar was organized ― by both Danish and Korean stakeholders ― to share and discuss knowledge and approaches on aging societies, in which the increase of the elderly population poses a challenge to welfare, healthcare and economic systems.

Danish and Korean experts shared information about senior healthcare programs as well as the social impact of aging and health tech in elderly care.

The second seminar with the theme of inequality in healthcare and non-communicable diseases will take place on June 23 at 4 p.m. at the ambassador's residence and will be streamed live on the embassy's YouTube channel.
