Kim inked a licensing agreement with the local production company Studio Dragon, which has produced a string of hit series including "Crash Landing on You," "Vincenzo" and "Sweet Home."
"Greenhouse at the End of the Earth" is a dystopian sci-fi novel set in the year 2129. Human civilization has succeeded in recovering from the deadly man-made problem of "dust," particles capable of killing any organism through physical exposure, a problem which plagued the Earth seven decades earlier.
The only element left in this society to offer a hint of the horrendous past that shows the true nature of humans and nearly led to their extinction is a mysterious vine known as "mossvana."
After hitting the bookshelves last summer, the novel became an instant bestseller. Its explosive popularity led to the signing of a series of publishing contracts in France, Japan, Taiwan, China, Russia and Indonesia.
As the winner of the 2020 Young Writers Award, Kim has made her name in the science fiction literary genre as a rising author exploring the themes of technological advancement and human marginalization.
Her 2019 story collection "If We Cannot Move at the Speed of Light" sold more than 200,000 copies. She is also a prolific writer. Last year, in addition to "Greenhouse," three more books were published under her name ― anthologies "The World We Just Left Behind" and "Planet Language Bookstore," as well as the nonfiction "Becoming a Cyborg," which won a Korea Publishing Culture Award for its examination of the relationship between disability and technology.
