Hana Financial Group awarded the winners of the Hana Artverse, an art contest for artists with developmental disabilities, on Thursday, which is Disabled Persons' Day here in Korea.
Hana Artverse is a multi-platform art contest launched by Hana Financial Group last year. It aims to provide opportunities for artists with developmental disabilities to demonstrate their talents and improve social awareness of disabilities through an exhibition of high-quality art.
"We plan to expand exhibition opportunities and release cards using the designs of award-winning works so that more people can share the emotional impression from these works by artists with developmental disabilities," Hana Financial Group Chairman Ham Young-joo said at the award ceremony. "We will spare no effort in supporting them to make their talents shine on top of encouraging more social participation by artists with disabilities."
As the contest this year was expanded to include children and teenagers with developmental disabilities, more artists than ever with disabilities participated overall. Held under the themes of nature, environment and sharing, the contest drew a total of 588 artists from across the country, which is about five times more than the previous year.
The works submitted for the contest were professionally screened by Hanyang University's Art and Design Education Center, which selected a total of 30 winners. The award-winning works are exhibited at various exhibition venues, both online and offline, until July.
Four winners in the adult category of the contest will be given an internship opportunity at the social enterprise known as Spring Shine. Also, some of the designs that were awarded in the contest will be used as limited edition cards in collaboration with Hana Card.
Under its corporate mission of Mutual Growth and Sharing Happiness, Hana Financial Group has been supporting people with disabilities by helping them get jobs through the Hana Power On Impact Program, creating urban beekeeping jobs for them and officially sponsoring a marathon campaign that aims at improving public awareness on autism. It has also been supporting sports for the disabled, realizing the social value of finance through environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) activities.
