A string of new series are expected to hit both TV and streaming platforms this month, including the much-anticipated Apple original series, "Pachinko," and top actress Kim Hee-sun's new fantasy series, "Tomorrow."
"Pachinko," based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Min Jin Lee, is finally set to launch on Apple TV+, March 25.
The eight-part series, which stars Oscar-winning actress Youn Yuh-jung and actor Lee Min-ho, follows the life of a Korean immigrant family through poverty, tragedy and survival in Japan during and after the Japanese occupation of Korea (1910-45).
Actress Kim is taking on another fantasy series, following her last fantasy action series, "Alice," in 2020.
Based on the webtoon of the same name, MBC's upcoming action fantasy series, "Tomorrow," is about an otherworldly crisis management team of Grim Reaper-like beings that help suicidal people to get a second chance in life.
A jobseeker, Choi Joon-woong (Rowoon), accidentally bumps into the team's leader, Gu Ryeon (Kim), one night, which leads him to join the team and help them carry out their work to save people.
The series is co-directed by filmmaker Kim Tae-yoon, who led the comedy film, "Mr. Zoo: The Missing VIP" (2020), and Sung Chi-wook, who led the 2020 fantasy series, "Kairos." It is scheduled to air on March 25.

Two romance series ― KBS' romantic comedy series, "Crazy Love," and Disney's music romance series, "Soundtrack #1" ― will also be debuting this month.
"Crazy Love," starring Kim Jae-wook and Jung Soo-jung, revolves around the romance between a narcissistic CEO who receives an anonymous death threat, and his assistant who finds out that she's terminally ill and only has a year to live.
The series, set to premiere on March 7, is directed by Kim Jung-hyun, whose previous work includes the 2017 rom-com series, "Jugglers," and the 2020 mystery series, "Awaken," and is written by newcomer Kim Bo-gyeom.
The upcoming Disney+ Korean original series, "Soundtrack #1," unfolds the story of two best friends of 20 years who happen to share a house for two weeks.
Han Sun-woo (Park Hyung-sik) is an aspiring photographer, who has feelings for his long-term friend, lyricist Lee Eun-soo (Han So-hee). As they live under the same roof, the two slowly open up and share their true feelings for each other.
The series is led by the director of tvN's hit series, "Vincenzo," Kim Hee-won. The exact date of its premiere has not been announced yet.
The drama adaptation of star director Yeon Sang-ho's animation of the same name, "The King of Pigs," will premiere as one of local streaming platform Tving's original series, March 18.
The dark thriller series revolves around a man named Hwang Kyung-min (Kim Dong-wook), who has been suffering from trauma after being bullied at school 20 years earlier. One day, when he receives a letter from a friend from middle school, a mysterious string of murders starts to take place. He joins hands with a detective (Kim Sung-kyu) to find out the truth behind the serial killings.
